Keith – Bio

Keith

From: Kilkenny
Instruments: Djembe, guitar, bass guitar, tin whistle, vocals

Keith is a Kilkenny born musician, songwriter and linguist with a degree from Trinity College in English Literature and French. From a young age, he has always shown an interest in performing. His participation in various choirs and Comhaltas groups over the years has seen him travel all over Ireland and Europe performing and helped him to define his aspirations. Music was in the home from a young age and Keith was always encouraged to play in bands. He and his brother Steve were regular performers around Kilkenny and this gave Keith ample opportunity to hone his skills with a variety of instruments on stage.

Keith’s energy and enthusiasm on stage is a testament to his approach to the band. His assertive vocal leaps between his chest voice and falsetto emphasize his wide range. His songwriting skills along with his knowledge of musical technology are invaluable assets to the cementing of a solid sound.

Keith has been known to perplex people with his dinosaur impressions, lack of knowledge on current affairs and his ability to drink from almost anything. He is an avid reader and no one appreciates a good chicken curry like him!

Keith

Cé as: Cill Chainnigh
Uirlis: Djembe, giotár, dord-ghiotár, feadóg stáin, glór

Is ceoltóir, scríbhneoir ceoil agus teangeolaí é Keith ó Cill Chainnigh, a bhfuil céim bainte amach aige ó Choláiste na Tríonóide. Óna bhí sé óg, bhí suim i gcónaí aige i gcasadh ceoil. Thaistil sé ar fud na tíre agus ar fud na hEorpa ag ceol le cúpla cór agus le Comhaltas, agus chuidigh sé sin leis a chuid uaillmhianta a chinntiú. Bhí ceol i gcónaí ina theaghlach agus é ag fás aníos, agus spreagadh é bheith páirteach i mbannaí ceoil. Sheinn Keith agus a dhearthair Steve go rialta i gCill Chainnigh, agus thug sé sin neart deiseanna dó a chuid scileanna a chothú le réimse leathan uirlisí ar an stáitse.

Is teastas dá chur chuige don bhanna é a chuid fuinnimh agus a chuid díocais ar stáitse. Léiríonn na léimeanna ó ghnáth-ghlór do falsetto an réim mhór atá ag a ghuth. Is tairbhe fhíorluachmhar dúinn a chuid scileanna le scríobh ceoil, chomh maith lena chuid eolais ar theicneolaíocht ceoil.

Cuireann Keith mearbhall ar dhaoine lena aithris ar dhineasáir, lena easpa eolais ar chúrsaí reatha, agus leis an gcumas atá aige deoch a ól ó aon soitheach. Is léitheoir díograiseach é, agus dar leis, níl tada níos fearr ar domhain ná curaí le sicín.

For me music and writing are everything. I am inspired by music that is able to move people, songs that are able to make people want to jump up and dance, and lyrics that make people think and feel something real. With Seo Linn I have found a group of like-minded people who really believe in the greatness of our little country, and well as having a deep appreciation for the years of culture and identity that are buried in the Irish language.

Domsa, níl tada eile ach ceoil agus scríobh. Faighim inspioráid ó cheol a chuireann daoine ag bogadh, ó amhráin a chuireann fonn ar dhaoine léim is damhsa, agus ó liricí a chuireann daoine ag smaoineamh agus ag mothú. Le Seo Linn, tháinig mé ar ghrúpa daoine a smaoiníonn mar a chéile liomsa, daoine a chreideann i mórgacht na tíre s’againne, agus daoine a bhfuil meas acu ar na blianta cultúir agus ionannas atá taobh thiar don Ghaeilge.
