Seo Linn’s Electric Picnic Experience

What a weekend! Even the Sunday evening’s (oh-so-typical) rain didn’t do much to curb the enthusiasm of the consistently mental crowd in the Puball Gaeilge. Packed to the rafters with people singing back at the top of their lungs, it was hard to tell who had more fun, us or the crowd! Still trying to find our feet since the two boyo’s went off on their own adventures but with Steve O’Brien’s help on the drums, the whole tent was really rocking! Every year, the Puball Gaeilge in the Mindfield, seems to draw an absolutely fantastic crowd and long may it continue!

I know for me personally it’s hard to pick out my favourite bits of the rest of the weekend but some of the highlights definitely had to include; our good friends, the wonderfully talented Heathers, Jenny Greene and the RTE Concert orchestra banging out some classic dance tunes, and Gavin James probably one of the most gifted singers out there – with the most ridiculously brilliant falsetto. Picture This had the whole tent singing every word while we just had to pick our jaws off the ground watching Jack Garrett who brought a whole new meaning to one-man band. James Bay was an awesome performer (I have no doubt Stiofan is definitely going to steal some of his moves).

I’m quite a fan of Walking on cars and talking to Patrick Sheehy and Paul Flannery just before they went on stage, it was nice to see that they’re a sound auld bunch! Keith and Stiofan were sure to congratulate Dan Murphy of Hermitage Green on a Savage performance on the main stage and will definitely be going to see them again.

Couldn’t give ye my Electric Picnic highlights without mentioning Dylan Moran and Al Porter in the Comedy tent either. Nearly had to be carried out of the place laughing!

Electric Picnic 2017 let’s be having ya!…….Main stage- what do ye reckon? 😉

Peace out

Picnic Leictriceach

A leithid do dheireadh seachtaine! Ní raibh an bháisteach fiú in ann stop a chur leis an slua craiceáilte sa bpuball Gaeilge. Bhí an áit plódaithe le daoine, ag canadh ar ais duinn ar bharr a nglóracha agus ba dheacair a fhail amach an raibh níos mo spraoi againne nó an slua! Muid fós ag baint triail teacht ar ár gcosa ónar imigh an bheirt buachaillí báire ar a naistearacha fein ach le cúnamh Steve O Briain ar na drumaí bhí an áit go hiomlán ag racáil amach. Gach uile bhliain bíonn an puball seo lionta le slua dochreidte….go mairfidh se i bhfad!

Dom féin, go pearsanta, tá sé deacair na cuidte is fearr don dheireadh seachtaine a phiocadh amach, ach cuid acu go cinnte ná ár gcairde ‘Heathers’, DJ Jenny Greene agus foireanncheoil RTÉ le cuid ceol damhsa den scoth. Gavin James leis a ghlor dochreidte. Bhi gach focail de na amhráin uaidh Picture This ar eolas ag an slua mor millteach agus bhí orm mo bhéal a bhailiú ón dtalamh nuair a chonaic me Jack Garrett ag deanamh a rud (A leithid de bhanna in aon fear amhain) Bhí Séamus O Bhá (James Bay) ina ‘showman’ ceart agus táim lán cinnte go bhfuil se ar intinn ag Stiofán cuid dá ‘moves’ a sciobadh!

Taitníonn an bhanna ceol ‘Walking on Cars’ go mór liom agus ba dheas an rud é fáil amach go bhfuil siad sách deas mar dhaoine théis bheith ag caint leo direach roimh a seit. Thug Keith agus Stiofan Comhghairdeas mór millteach go Dan uaidh ‘Hermitage Green’ don seó den scoth a chur siad ar siúl ar an bpríomhárdan agus beidh muid cinnte ag dul chun iad siúd a fheiceál arís.

Ní bheinn in ann mo bhruacphointi a leiriu gan trácht a dhéanamh ar na fir grinn Dylan Moran agus Al Porter. Ba bheag nar iompaíodh mé on áit ag gáire!

EP 2k17 tá muid réidh – le cunamh Dé, an príomhstáitse a bheas i gcéist 😉
