The phrase TÍR LE TANGA, TÍR LE HANAM is one that is very close to out hearts as a band.
It translates to “A country with a language, a country with a soul.“
It is inspired by a phrase penned by Pádraig Pearse as he stirred revolution in Ireland. He would say “Tír gan Teanga, Tír gan Anam“ meaning that a country without a language is a country without a soul. He was referring to the importance of retaining and protecting the Irish Language during the Irish Revolution, so that future children of Ireland would have the opportunity to speak the beautiful Irish language. Today with Irish language schools becoming more and more popular in Ireland and Irish language music having reached all corners of the globe, our modern approach to this old phrase is one that recognises the huge progress that has been made by the Irish language in recent times.
